History
Glendale Studios began operations at its current location in 1985 and
services both large and small television and film production companies.
The Company’s business includes the rental of two sound stages, television
production equipment and facilities, and lighting equipment for both
television and film productions.
In 1916, the largest silent film studio of the era, Kalem Studios were
expanding their studios in Glendale while closing down their Santa Monica
and Hollywood stages. Meanwhile, Mack Sennett was churning out "Keystone
Cops" and "Fatty" Arbuckle episodes on South Glendale
Avenue. As Charlie Chaplin waddled down the road, Disney was dabbling
in Donald and Mickey, while Hal Roach could be seen capturing "Our
Gang" on location, and the Alex Theater on Brand Boulevard was
enjoying premiers that Hollywood never saw. By this time, the City Fathers
had encouraged those "unsavory" entertainment people to seek
their Silver Screen fortunes in Hollywood.
The property is located at 1239 South Glendale Avenue in Glendale,
California.
